It was really interesting watching the karate kumite (Sparring) on TV 7plus. The points system was fairly standard but in some cases an “S” was added. The S stands for Sanchou. If the points were even at the end the player with the “S” won.

In 2006 one of our higher grades (Renee) was asked to provide an inside into Sanchou for her third degree grading.
