Yaksuki.  The original name is Yakusoku
Yaksuki means pre-set sparring. There are three basic levels Ippon, Nihon and Sandon.
At Bukido we call these level one, two and three.
Our yuksuki are made up of; the formalities (What must be done at the start and finish,) Stances blocks and/or evasions and retaliations. The retaliations can be any of the body weapons.
Knowing the basics is very important and is fundamental in the makeup of yaksukis.

As the yuksuki become more complex so must the stances and body movement. A beginner may start in shoulder width stance, execute an upper block with a follow up straight out punch.
Of course, this starting yuksuki would be the worst a person could be in in a fight situation but is designed to start putting the basics into the muscle memory.

The student would then learn to start to move, for example as above but stepping back to block then stepping forward to strike.

Level one is one retaliatory strike, level two, two strikes etc.
So how many yuksuki are there? There are literally 100’s of combinations. The best way to learn yuksuki?  In class with a partner and under supervision.
